The Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the establishment of a new 80-bed specialist hospital dedicated to maternal and child healthcare.

The monarch described the project as a landmark initiative that demonstrates the Federal Government’s commitment to safeguarding the health and future of Nigerian women and children. He noted that the facility, once operational, would help reduce the high rates of maternal and infant mortality in the country, while also easing the burden on existing hospitals struggling with overcrowding.

Ogiame Atuwatse III highlighted the importance of prioritizing maternal and child health, stressing that healthier mothers raise healthier children who in turn build stronger communities. He added that the new hospital reflects President Tinubu’s vision of strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare delivery system through targeted investments in vulnerable groups.

The Olu further called on stakeholders—including state governments, health professionals, and community leaders—to support and sustain the project so that it delivers maximum impact. He emphasized that beyond the physical infrastructure, proper staffing, equipment, and maintenance will be key to ensuring the hospital meets its intended purpose.

The monarch concluded by praying for President Tinubu’s success in steering Nigeria’s development agenda and reaffirmed the Itsekiri Kingdom’s readiness to partner with government on initiatives that improve the lives of citizens.
