The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has extended his congratulations to Senator Godswill Akpabio on his election as the President of the Senate.
According to reports, Akpabio, who is the preferred candidate of the All Progressives Congress, contested against Senator-elect Abdulazeez Yari, the former Governor of Zamfara State.
Following a brief recess, Sani Tambuwal, the Clerk of the National Assembly, announced Akpabio as the Senate President, having secured 63 votes, while his opponent received 46 votes.
In a statement released on Tuesday and shared with journalists, Obaseki praised Akpabio for his successful emergence as the new Senate President, expressing confidence in his abilities and affirming his belief that he will not disappoint.
Obaseki acknowledged Akpabio’s extensive experience and expressed his assurance that the 10th Senate is in capable hands.
