The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a fresh weather alert, forecasting thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and potential flash floods across several parts of the country in the coming days.

According to NiMet’s daily weather outlook, widespread thunderstorms and intermittent rainfall are expected in northern, central, and southern states, raising concerns over localized flooding, road disruptions, and reduced visibility, especially in urban and low-lying areas.

The agency warns that the following areas are most at risk:

Northern states: Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Bauchi, and Maiduguri

North Central: Abuja, Jos, Makurdi, and Ilorin

Southern regions: Lagos, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Benin City, and Enugu

NiMet has advised residents in flood-prone zones to remain cautious, avoid driving through waterlogged roads, and clear drainages around homes and offices.

The alert also urges government agencies, emergency responders, and urban planners to take proactive steps to mitigate flood impacts and respond swiftly to emergencies.

NiMet continues to monitor weather developments and will provide updates as needed.
