Nigerian scientist honored with prestigious award for groundbreaking research and humanitarian work

Nigerian scientist and medical doctor, Dr. Adewunmi Akingbola, has been recognized with the esteemed “Passion in Science Award” by New England BioLabs.

This prestigious award honors individuals who have made significant contributions to scientific research and have demonstrated a commitment to using their expertise for humanitarian purposes.

Dr. Akingbola, 26-year old medical doctor at the University of Cambridge, has been acknowledged for his outstanding work in infectious diseases research, particularly in the area of viral Hepatitis C. His innovative research has focused on understanding disease transmission and treatment among vulnerable populations, including People Who Inject Drugs in the United Kingdom.

In addition to his academic achievements, Dr. Akingbola is the founder of HealthDrive Nigeria, an initiative dedicated to reducing the burden of infectious diseases in Nigeria.
