The family of Nigerian boxer, Gabriel Oluwasegun Olanrewaju, who tragically died in Ghana during a bout, is seeking justice and compensation for his death.

Over two months after the incident, Olanrewaju’s body remains in Ghana, awaiting repatriation.

According to reports, Olanrewaju collapsed mid-bout in Ghana, and despite efforts to save him, he gave up the ghost.

The incident has raised outrage and concern among the Nigerian boxing community and beyond.

Abike Dabiri, head of Nigeria in Diaspora Commission, has taken up the matter, working closely with the Nigerian Embassy in Ghana to resolve the issue.

“The Nigerian Embassy in Ghana is on the matter. All issues surrounding the matter will soon be resolved and his corpse will be brought home. They are also demanding the family be paid compensation for his death,” Dabiri said.

As the family awaits the repatriation of Olanrewaju’s body, they are also seeking justice and accountability for his death.
