Nigeria, China unite for global climate action at COP29

Nigeria’s Minister of Environment, Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, has taken a bold step towards tackling the global climate crisis by signing a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the People’s Republic of China at the COP29 summit in Baku, Azerbaijan.

This agreement aims to accelerate climate action through innovative solutions, mutual cooperation, and expertise sharing to address environmental challenges.

Minister Lawal said, “This partnership underscores Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to #GreenNigeria and highlights the crucial role of South-South collaboration in driving sustainable development for developing nations.”

The minister attended the High-Level Dialogue: “South-South Cooperation Promotes Sustainable Development in Developing Countries” at the invitation of the Chinese delegation, further solidifying the partnership.

This unified approach aims to create a greener, more resilient future for all.

The agreement with China, Nigeria demonstrates its dedication to combating climate change and promoting sustainable development. As the world watches COP29 unfold, this partnership serves as a beacon of hope for global climate action.
