The 20 medical students kidnapped in Benue State have regained their freedom, security sources announced on Friday.

The daring rescue operation, coordinated by the Office of the National Security Adviser, involved a collaborative effort by security agencies, including the police, Department of State Services (DSS), and military personnel, with support from the Benue State government.

The students, abducted last Thursday along the Otukpo/Otukpa/Enugu federal highway while en route to Enugu State for a medical convention, were finally freed after a swift and decisive intervention.

Following the abduction, a special team led by the Inspector-General of Police arrived in Benue State on Monday and was deployed to Otukpo to track down the kidnappers.
