Multiple trafficked Nigerian girls rescued from Ghana, handed over to NAPTIP – Says Abike Dabira

Several Nigerian girls trafficked to Ghana for exploitation have been freed and returned to Nigeria, courtesy of a collaborative effort between Nigerian and Ghanaian authorities.

According to Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), the rescue mission was facilitated by the tireless efforts of Chief Callistus, Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO) Ghana, and supported by Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria.

“Five human traffickers were arrested during the operation, and the rescued girls have been handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for rehabilitation and support,” Dabiri disclosed.

Dabiri expressed gratitude to the Nigerian High Commission in Ghana, Nigerian Interpol office, and Ghanaian police authorities for their tremendous cooperation in ensuring the success of the operation.

Special appreciation was also extended to @cbngov_akin1, who accompanied the girls on their journey back to Nigeria, ensuring their comfort and safety.

“This rescue operation is a testament to the commitment of the Nigerian government to protecting its citizens, both at home and abroad,” Dabiri-Erewa stated.
