The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has appointed Commissioner of Police, Ebun Oluwarotimi Adelesi as the first female [CP] in charge of Kwara State Command.
CP Adelesi succeeds Paul Odama who has been redeployed following his promotion as Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
CP Adelesi was Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration) when the Acting IGP, Kayode Egbetokun was Kwara CP.
It was in Kwara that she was promoted Commissioner of Police after which she was redeployed to Lagos State Command as CP (General Investigation).
She was described as a diligent and no-nonsense officer, qualities which earned her the nickname ‘Iron Lady’.
CP Adelesi was born in Shagamu, Ogun State in 1963 and was appointed Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police 3rd March, 1990.
Her educational qualifications include Bachelor of Arts )English Language), Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University);
Advanced Diploma in Strategic Security and Infrastructure Protection, University of Lagos.
Other courses attended include Advanced Detective course, Police Staff College, Jos, 2001; Intermediate Leadership Command course, Police Staff College, Jos, 2006;

She had served in various capacities as young and experienced police officer in various states of the federation.
Adelesi also served at United Nations Peace- keeping mission to Liberia and Darfur (SUDAN).
She has presented conference papers at the United Nation-sponsored conference, mainly for women in Peace-keeping mission at Mogadishu, Somalia entitled ‘Better the balance, Better the world’ in 2019.
