The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) has achieved a significant milestone with the graduation of its first set of students from the School of Anaesthetic Technology.

This remarkable feat was celebrated on Friday, December 6, 2024.

In his address, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo, praised the pioneering graduates for their outstanding accomplishments.

He noted that the school was inspired by a similar initiative at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) and appreciated the hospital’s Management Committee for spearheading the initiative.

Prof. Fabamwo encouraged the graduates to contribute meaningfully to the healthcare sector, highlighting the high demand for Anaesthetic Technicians across Nigeria.

He assured them that “this profession offers limitless opportunities, with no fear of unemployment.”

The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including Dr. Olusegun Ogboye, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Lagos State, who extended hearty congratulations to the graduates.

Dr. Kemi Ogunyemi, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Health, encouraged the graduates to stay in the country and serve the nation.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Health, Dr. Oluwatoni Adeyemi, welcomed the graduates into the “One Health Family In Lagos State,” emphasizing their vital role as a bridge between patients and surgical teams.

Akinyemi Ayisat Motunrayo, the overall best graduating student, delivered an inspiring valedictory speech, encouraging her fellow graduates to embrace lifelong learning and strive for excellence in their careers.

In his address, Prof. Fabamwo said, “You are the pioneers of this institution at LASUTH, and your place in history is assured”. He congratulated the graduates’ families, recognising their invaluable support.

Dr. Titilayo Awodesu, the Head of the School of Anaesthetic Technology, was acknowledged for her tireless contributions to the programme’s success.
