The Lagos State Government has shut down a popular clubhouse in the state over repeated violations of traffic regulations and public safety guidelines. The closure was carried out by officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), following several warnings to the management of the facility.

According to the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the decision to seal the premises was made after the club was found to have consistently obstructed free flow of traffic around its vicinity, particularly during peak hours and weekends. Vehicles belonging to patrons were frequently parked along public roads, leading to heavy congestion and disruption of emergency routes.

He added that the government had earlier issued warnings to several event centers and nightclubs across the state, urging them to make adequate parking arrangements and to coordinate with LASTMA or hire certified traffic personnel to manage vehicular movement during large events.

The Lagos State Government emphasized that its action is not targeted at businesses, but rather aimed at maintaining sanity on public roads and protecting the rights of all road users.

The closure of the clubhouse signals a renewed commitment by the Lagos State Government to enforce traffic laws and restore order in public spaces. Authorities have promised to continue monitoring entertainment venues and event centers across the state to ensure strict compliance with traffic and safety regulations.
