Lagos police arrest pastor in connection with murder of 17-year-old

The Lagos Police Command has apprehended Pastor Anthony Kwamboli, 30, of Jesus Disciples Assembly Church, in connection with the gruesome murder of 17-year-old Adeolu Olubade.

The victim’s body was discovered in a shallow grave within an apartment on Jesus Assembly Omoguwa Street, Ejigbo, Lagos.

According to reports, the incident occurred between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm on September 2.

The pastor is accused of slitting Olubade’s throat while the teenager was asleep, then proceeding to dig a grave inside the room to conceal the body.

The Punch reports that SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed the incident on Thursday, September 12. According to Hundeyin, the grieving family has identified a 30-year-old suspect as responsible for the crime.

On September 3, 2024, at approximately 8:00 a.m., a relative of the deceased reported to the police that his 17-year-old cousin had been found dead and buried in a room on Jesus Assembly Street, Omoguwa Street, Ejigbo.

The Lagos Police Command is investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder and the motive behind the pastor’s alleged actions.

The suspect is currently in custody and will be charged accordingly.

The police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
