In a recent interview with News Central TV, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi expressed his willingness to consider a vice-presidential role in the 2027 general election if he finds someone who can perform better than him.

Obi emphasized that his primary ambition is to see Nigeria move forward and improve the lives of its citizens.

When asked about the possibility of accepting a vice-presidential candidacy, Obi stated, “I’m not desperate to be Nigerian president.

“I am desperate to see Nigeria work. If I see people who can do the work better, I will consider being Vice President.”

Obi also clarified that he would not leave the Labour Party but would consider a merger with other politicians if their purposes align with his political goals.

However, he emphasized that any collaboration must prioritize the well-being of Nigerians, particularly ensuring that no child is left behind and that out-of-school children are returned to school.

Meanwhile, the Labour Party’s National Working Committee has accused Obi, activist Aisha Yesufu, Pastor Itua Ighodalo, and Afenifere leaders of misappropriating campaign funds in 2023.

The party alleges that over N12 billion and $15 million in donations were diverted, with Obi accused of orchestrating the fraudulent mismanagement of funds.

The party’s leadership has called for an investigation by the EFCC and NSA.
