Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has urged residents of the state to avoid politicising security challenges, stressing that the recent rise in banditry demands collective action from all citizens, irrespective of political affiliation.

The governor gave the charge on Saturday night during a special prayer session held at the Government House, Kano, where 4,444 Qur’an memorizers (Huffaz) gathered to recite the Holy Qur’an and offer prayers for the restoration of peace and stability across the state.

The prayer session followed recent attacks by armed bandits in parts of Kano, prompting the state government to intensify both spiritual and strategic responses to insecurity.

Governor Yusuf said the mobilisation of thousands of Qur’an reciters was part of the administration’s efforts to seek divine intervention while security agencies continue their operations. He added that insecurity should be approached with unity and seriousness, not partisan debates.

He assured residents that his administration remains committed to safeguarding lives and property, noting that both security measures and community involvement are essential to overcoming the current challenges.

The gathering, which drew Islamic scholars, government officials, and community leaders, featured prolonged Qur’anic recitations and supplications for peace, protection, and God’s mercy on the people of Kano State.
