The Lagos State Government has announced the reopening of the Odo Iya Alaro Bridge in the Maryland area, following its temporary closure nearly two months ago.

According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Transport, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the bridge is now open to traffic after undergoing rehabilitation works.

The rehabilitation project, which commenced on July 22, 2024, was executed by the state Ministry of Works.

The commissioner noted that the upgraded bridge will improve traffic flow and ease movement between the Mainland and Island, enhancing connectivity and reducing travel time for commuters.

According to his statement, β€œThe tweet read, β€œWe are delighted to inform all road users that the rehabilitation of the Odo Iya Alaro Bridge, executed by the Ministry of Works, Lagos, has been completed ahead of schedule.

β€œThe bridge will be reopened today, significantly earlier than the initial 90-day timeline, with the work accomplished in under two months.

β€œWe deeply appreciate the patience and cooperation of Lagosians during this period. Your willingness to navigate alternative routes, despite the challenges, played a key role in ensuring the swift progress of this important project.

β€œThis rehabilitation will enhance traffic flow and ease movement between the Mainland and the Island. We also extend our gratitude to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) for their exceptional work in managing traffic during this time.”

Osiyemi appreciated the residents of the state for their β€œcontinued support in the development of our city.”
