In a revealing interview with Channels Television, Senator Olusola Adeyeye made a shocking disclosure about the events surrounding former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s third term agenda.

According to Adeyeye, lawmakers were offered a staggering N70 million each to support the proposal.

“An offer of N70 million was made to each lawmaker to gain support for the proposal of a third term agenda,” Adeyeye revealed.

He further claimed that every senator and Rep member from Osun took the money, but he turned down the offer, which was significantly more than N70 million.

Adeyeye’s decision to resist the bribe came at a great personal cost.

He shared that his resistance led to five assassination attempts on his life. “I have survived five assassination attempts as a result of my resistance to the push for a third term,” he said.

The former senator expressed his pride and satisfaction at having played a role in stopping Obasanjo’s third term agenda. “I am glad we stopped Obasanjo’s third term agenda,” he stated.

Adeyeye’s revelation provides a glimpse into the high-stakes politics of the time and the intense pressure lawmakers faced to support the third term agenda.
