Five Police Officers Killed in Ambush in Bauchi State

police response team dispatched to Sabon-Sara village in Darazo Local Government Area has been attacked in a deadly ambush that left five officers dead and several others injured.

The officers were deployed following reports of a violent clash between herders and farmers in the community. According to preliminary information, the team came under intense gunfire shortly after arriving at the scene. The assailants, described by security officials as an armed group operating in the area, reportedly opened fire from concealed positions, triggering a prolonged exchange of gunshots.

Police authorities said several members of the armed group were neutralized during the confrontation, though the exact number has not been officially confirmed. Reinforcements were later deployed to restore order and secure the affected area.

The Nigeria Police Force has released the identities of the five officers who died in the operation:

  1. DSP Ahmad Muhammad (SID)
  2. ASP Mustapha Muhammad (10 PMF)
  3. Inspector Amarhel Yunusa (10 PMF)
  4. Inspector Idris Ahmed (10 PMF)
  5. Corporal Isah Muazu (AKU)

The Bauchi State Police Command has opened an investigation into the incident and says efforts are underway to track down the perpetrators and prevent further violence. Authorities also reaffirmed their commitment to protecting communities affected by ongoing tensions between herders and farmers.
