Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved N1.3 billion for various electricity projects. This development is part of the state government’s efforts to boost electricity supply and promote economic growth.

The approved projects include the extension of electricity and installation of transformers in Osekita community, Iworoko Ekiti, and Idi-Aagba community off Ilawe Rd, Ado Ekiti.

Also, installation of solar streetlights at GRA 3rd Extension Off NTA Road, DE Head area at EKSU Road to Olorunsogo zone, and Faglo area at Old Iyin road to Ijadu Junction in Ado Ekiti.

According to the State Commissioner of Information, Rt. Hon Taiwo Olatunbosun, the state government has adopted a new policy initiative to use solar lamps for road illumination, replacing traditional diesel generator-powered lamps for sustainability.

This move ensures a safe, healthy, and steady supply of water, as Water Treatment Plants (WTP) require reliable power supply to function properly.

The benefiting areas are rapidly developing but unserved communities with significant populations and numerous Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) that have been without electricity for years.

To mitigate price instability induced by inflation, the state government is taking a proactive, cost-saving, and anticipatory-buying approach.

Governor Oyebanji’s administration remains committed to the rapid development of the state and the general wellbeing of its people. Olatunbosun solicited continued support from stakeholders, emphasizing the collective responsibility to achieve optimal results.

This approval follows the recent commissioning of the 3.6 megawatt Ekiti Independent Power Project (IPP) in Ado Ekiti, aimed at enhancing economic activities and industrialization in the state.
