The Ekiti State Government has entered into a 30-year partnership with ENSHET Heights Global Ltd for the development of economic trees within the Ogbese Forest Reserve.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which covers a 100-hectare portion of the reserve, was signed in Ado-Ekiti by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, on behalf of the government, and the Chairman of ENSHET Heights Global, Mr. Oladapo Olasope.

Under the agreement, ENSHET Global will cultivate only approved species of economic trees, while the planting of Indian hemp or any other unlawful crop is strictly prohibited. The initiative is to be supervised at no cost to the government by officials of the Ekiti State Forestry Commission.

The MoU also provides for joint harvesting of mature trees, issuance of necessary permits, and dispute resolution through arbitration in Ado-Ekiti.

According to government officials, the partnership is expected to promote sustainable forest management, strengthen the state’s green economy drive, and create long-term economic opportunities for local communities.
