DSS INVITES DATTI BABA-AHMED OVER ALLEGED INCITING COMMENTS

29th November 2025.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has invited Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, founder of Baze University, over a series of recent public comments considered inciting and potentially harmful to national stability.

Security officials confirmed that the invitation followed Baba-Ahmed’s repeated claims of a “constitutional crisis” during several media appearances, as well as remarks targeting the judiciary and the military for allowing the inauguration of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

According to the officials, Baba-Ahmed suggested that the swearing-in of the current administration had emboldened military personnel to “look you in the face and call you bloody fools”—a statement authorities describe as provocative and capable of heightening political tension.

They noted that such rhetoric could undermine public confidence in state institutions and inflame an already sensitive national atmosphere, particularly at a time when the country is working to strengthen cohesion and improve security.

The DSS invitation, sources explained, is part of standard preventive protocol used when public statements appear capable of provoking unrest. The engagement is expected to clarify the intent behind the remarks and ensure they do not contribute to narratives that could destabilize the country.
