Democracy day: FG declares June 12 public holiday

In commemoration of Nigeria’s Democracy Day the Federal Government has officially declared Monday, June 12 as a public holiday.

Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, permanent secretary, Ministry of Interior, announced this in a statement.

Akinlade extended congratulations to Nigerians on this significant occasion and acknowledged that similar to numerous countries, Nigeria’s path to democracy has been marked by both challenges and successes.

“But the ship of State, its institutions, and most importantly, the Nigerian people have remained steadfast on the tenets of democratic governance”, she stated.

“On this memorable occasion, therefore, Nigerians and friends of Nigeria are invited to appreciate the progress that has been made, celebrate the milestones covered, and look forward to a better future for the country’s democracy”, Akinlade added.

The permanent secretary wished all nigerians a Happy Democracy Day celebration, according to the statement.
