A Lagos court has sentenced two young men to community service for causing environmental degradation on the Ile Epo pedestrian bridge.

The individuals were arrested by the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources (LasgMOE) enforcement team for littering and messing up the bridge.

According to reports from Lagos state Commissioner Ministry of Environment, Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahaab, said the LasgMOE enforcement team had been monitoring the activities of the two individuals, who were found to be consistently littering and causing environmental degradation on the bridge.

The team subsequently arrested the individuals and charged them to court for their actions.

The court, in its ruling, found the individuals guilty of environmental infraction and sentenced them to community service.

The sentence is aimed at ensuring that the individuals make amends for their actions and contribute to the maintenance of a clean and healthy environment in Lagos.

The Ile Epo pedestrian bridge, which was previously plagued by environmental infraction, is now free from litter and can be safely used by the public.

The Lagos State Government has commended the efforts of the LasgMOE enforcement team in ensuring that environmental laws are enforced in the state.

The Government has also urged residents to take responsibility for their actions and to work towards maintaining a clean and healthy environment in Lagos.

The sentence handed down to the two individuals serves as a deterrent to others who may be tempted to engage in environmental degradation.
