Nigerian businesswoman and philanthropist Folorunsho Alakija has issued a warning to the public about a fake Facebook page using her name and image to promote a weight loss product.

She made this announcement on her X page formerly known as Twitter

According to Alakija, the page, “Cosy decide 11,” is using AI-generated videos and voice impersonations to falsely claim her endorsement of a weight loss product called Lipocarnit.

“It has come to my attention that a fraudulent Facebook page is using AI-generated videos and voice impersonations to falsely claim my identity and promote a weight loss product,” Alakija said in a statement.

“I categorically state that I have no affiliation with the page ‘Cosy decide 11’ and have never endorsed any weight loss product, including Lipocarnit,” she added.

Alakija warned the public to be vigilant and verify any information directly from her official channels, including her Facebook page, LinkedIn profile, and Instagram account.

“I urge everyone to report this fraudulent page to Facebook and relevant authorities immediately,” she said.

β€œStay vigilant, and always verify any information directly from my official channels.”
