Armed men suspected to be bandits have kidnapped the wife and daughter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, Alhaji Muhammad Swasun.

The abduction occurred late Sunday night in Sakpefu community.

Reports indicate that the gunmen stormed the area at about 11 p.m., firing shots into the air before heading directly to the chairman’s residence. They forced their way into the house and took away his wife, Hajia Fatima, and daughter, Amina.

Local vigilantes reportedly launched a search operation immediately after the attack, but the victims have yet to be rescued.

The incident comes on the heels of recent bandit attacks in Esanti and Lalagi villages, both in Patigi axis, where a driver was killed and another resident abducted.

In a related development, gunmen on Saturday invaded Shagbe community in Ifelodun local Government Area, attacking the palace of the traditional ruler. Residents said several people were killed, while others were abducted during the raid, which lasted for hours despite repeated distress calls to security agencies.
