As part of deliberate efforts aimed at promoting invention and creativity in the Centre of Excellence, Lagos State plans to send an Innovative Bill to the state house of Assembly.

The bill is intended to support innovation and creativity by start-ups and other industries.

According to Honourable Tunbosun Alake, the state commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, the essence was to domesticate the bill already passed into law by the Federal Government in Lagos State to address the state’s peculiarities in innovation .

He told newsmen at the sidelines of this year’s edition of Lagos Art of Technology Expo titled ‘The Creative Economy and A Digital Lagos’ that the essence of the Bill was to spell out modalities for encouraging and supporting creative energy of citizens and start-up enterpreneurs in the state towards creating employment and development .

Alake, however, said that the plan of the state was to domesticate the Innovative Bill already adopted by the Federal Government to suit the peculiarities of the state.

Speaking further, he said that the essence of localising the bill was to create economic goals for personal, corporate and medium levels for the overall economic development of the state.

“In Lagos we want to have a Innovative Bill that will target specific groups like Corporate organisations, individual, medium levels and other levels of initiatives for overall Economic goals.

In order to achieve this objective, the commissioner spoke of other measures like protecting, enlarging, training and getting requisite funding for innovation for start-ups towards the overall economic development of the state.

According to him, the topic of this year’s edition of the Art of Technology was a testament to the state’s determination to connect to the worldwide ecosystem, change legal framework and support the state’s creative economy, adding,”the essence is also to protect against piracy which is important to blockchain reactions and to bring out things that will add value to AOT 5.0.

“By this Bill we intend to bring their submission for Funding and help other Creative and Legal Framework to play”, Alake said.
