The Ogun State Security Network, Amotekun, intercepted a gang of armed robbers on the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode Expressway, leaving one suspect dead and two others in custody.

The early Sunday morning operation, led by Brigadier General Alade Adedigba, thwarted a potential major heist on the busy highway.

Among those arrested was 27-year-old Amechie Okoro, who had been released from Ikoyi Prison just a week ago.

Okoro and his accomplice, Michael Oko, provided vital intelligence on their criminal network during interrogation.

Okoro confessed that he was recruited by the gang’s fugitive leader, Awuha, shortly after his release from prison.

Acting on Okoro’s confession, Amotekun operatives raided the gang’s hideout, capturing another suspect and recovering stolen items.

The operation has helped protect the people of Ogun State, with Brigadier General Adedigba warning criminals that they would be brought to justice.

“This operation is a warning to all criminals. We will find you, and we will bring you to justice,” he said.

The arrested suspects will be handed over to the police for prosecution, while security agencies continue their hunt for Awuha and other gang members.
