The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to take on their West African neighbors, Benin, in a highly anticipated AFCON 2025 qualifier.

The match, scheduled for Saturday, September 7, 2024, marks the second encounter between the two teams in just four months, following Benin’s shocking 2-1 victory in their World Cup qualifier in June.

That defeat led to the departure of former head coach Finidi George, and the team has since been under the interim leadership of Augustine Eguavoen.

With key players Victor Osimhen and William Troost-Ekong returning to the squad, Nigeria is poised to avenge their recent loss and start their AFCON 2025 journey on a strong note.

The Super Eagles boast a strong record against Benin, with six wins in their previous seven meetings.

However, Benin’s recent victory under former Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has injected a new level of confidence into the Cheetahs’ camp.

As Nigeria seeks redemption, fans will be eagerly following the match, despite no official confirmation on the broadcast channel.

The Nigeria Football Federation’s social media channels will provide live updates for those unable to attend the match.

With the return of Osimhen and Troost-Ekong, Nigeria’s squad is reinforced and ready to take on the challenge.
