The Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Adeyemo Adejugbe, has called on the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, to take the lead in addressing the challenges facing the Yoruba race.

According to Oba Adejugbe, the South-West region is currently grappling with various challenges, particularly insecurity, which requires the attention of traditional rulers and leaders.

Oba Adejugbe made the call during the conferment of the Atobatele of Ado Ekiti chieftaincy title on Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Chairman of the Lagos Governor’s Advisory Council.

He emphasized that the Yoruba people should not be divided over petty issues at this time. The Ewi noted that the Ooni and Alaafin, as well-educated and experienced global citizens, should rise above pettiness and work together to tackle the region’s challenges.

The monarch urged the two prominent traditional rulers to deploy their exposure, connections, and wealth to advance security, peace, and social development in the country, particularly in the South-West.

He also lauded Prince Olusi for his lifelong impact on education, community service, and cultural development, which earned him the Atobatele title.

According to Oba Adejugbe, the award recognizes Prince Olusi’s stellar achievements, virtues, and extraordinary contributions to community development and institutional progress.

The Ewi’s statement comes against the backdrop of a perceived negative narrative on social media about the relationship between the Alaafin and the Ooni, which he urged both monarchs to handle with tact and wisdom.
