In order to boost the supply of water to residents of Osun, the state government has embarked on the rehabilitation of public water works located across the state.

This rehabilitation of public water works, according to a statement issued by the media aide to Osun State governor, Olawale Rasheed, was in addition to the 332 boreholes being sunk in wards as emergency intervention on water supply to residents of the state.

He said that the state government was already rehabilitating water works in major towns of the state while the 332 boreholes were emergency intervention projects to address acute water shortage in the state.

According to the statement, rehabilitation of water works was already on-going at Ede, Iwo, Osogbo, and Eko-Ende among others.

He noted that Governor Adeleke adopted two approaches namely, the short term interventions which are the boreholes and the medium and long-term interventions which include rehabilitation of water works, that both are on-going simultaneously.

He said across the 332 political wards in the state, residents are accessing water supplies which according to global standards was expected to serve two million people.
