Olubadan Calls on Yoruba to Remain Vigilant as Insecurity Escalates

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has urged Yoruba people across the Southwest to stay alert amid the rising insecurity challenges confronting Nigeria.

The monarch made the call at Ode-Omu in Osun State during the weekend’s Ode-Omu Day celebration, an annual event where indigenes assess community development and outline plans for future progress. His message was conveyed by his media aide, Adeola Oloko.

Commending the people of the ancient town for their unity and developmental strides, Oba Ladoja praised the leadership of the Alaye of Ode-Omu, Oba Bolarinwa Oladipupo, noting that the community had continued to set a positive example in grassroots growth.

He pledged continued support from Ibadan, assuring the gathering that Ibadanland remains committed to strengthening the historic ties between both communities. The Olubadan added that Chief Tunde Afolabi, an illustrious son of Ibadanland and its Parakoyi, would be drafted to chair the next edition of Ode-Omu Day.

Also speaking at the event, former Minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan, highlighted the longstanding connection between the two communities, recalling that Ode-Omu was settled by Ibadan’s ancient warriors in 1909.

The event drew indigenes, dignitaries, and community leaders who reiterated their commitment to sustaining peace and development despite growing security concerns in the country.
