Security operatives have arrested four suspected kidnappers believed to be connected to the abduction of ten villagers along the Koso Likoro–Soba axis in Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State.
The development was disclosed on Friday in a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who revealed that the suspects were traced to a hideout within the Ibbi Forest.
A joint security team reportedly stormed the location and apprehended three suspects identified as Sanda Dan, Mallam Wantau, and Atiku. Makama stated that preliminary investigations showed the men confessed to taking part in recent attacks and provided names of other members of their syndicate.
Individuals named in the confession include Buba Maiyara, Mantile Alh. Majo, and Bilya Musa Baushe, all residents of Koso village.
A subsequent follow-up operation led to the arrest of Manu Malami Shehu Maiyara, who allegedly confirmed that his son, Buba Maiyara, and others were involved in the kidnappings and cattle rustling activities in the area.
Security agencies are expected to continue operations as efforts intensify to dismantle the network behind the attacks.
