Senate Confirms Dr Bernard Doro as Minister of the Federal Republic

The Senate on Thursday confirmed Dr Bernard Doro as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, following a smooth screening session at the National Assembly.
Lawmakers commended Doro’s vast professional experience and leadership qualities, expressing confidence in his capacity to contribute meaningfully to national development.
The Plateau-born technocrat, who becomes the third minister from the state in President Bola Tinubu’s administration, pledged to promote fairness and transparency in the country’s humanitarian programmes.
During the screening, Doro said he would “create a humanitarian ecosystem that is inclusive, guided by impartiality and independence.”
After deliberations, the Senate unanimously approved his nomination, asking him to “take a bow and go.”
President Bola Tinubu had earlier requested Doro’s confirmation in a letter addressed to the Senate, in line with Section 147 (2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). The request was read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio and referred to the Committee of the Whole for consideration.
Doro’s appointment comes following the elevation of his predecessor, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, to the position of National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, Dr Doro brings over two decades of experience spanning clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, and strategic leadership in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
