Nigerian Educator Seyi Anifowose Breaks Guinness World Record with Largest Teachers’ Gathering

Seyi Anifowose, a prominent Nigerian education advocate, has officially been recognized by Guinness World Records for organizing the largest gathering of teachers in a single location.

The record-setting event, dubbed the “Let There Be Teachers Conference”, took place on September 20, 2025, at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos, drawing over 60,000 educators from across the country. The conference aimed to spotlight the challenges faced by teachers in Nigeria and emphasize the critical role of education in national development.

Guinness World Records confirmed the achievement on September 23, 2025, during a virtual session with Rishi Nath, who commended Anifowose and his team for their dedication and organizational excellence.

Speaking about the milestone, Anifowose said, “This achievement is more than just a number. It is proof that teachers matter. It is a victory for education and for Nigeria.”

The conference, powered by 1 Million Teachers, transformed the historic square into a symbol of national pride and drew significant media attention, highlighting the importance of supporting and empowering educators across the country.
