The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has suspended its nationwide strike, following a meeting with representatives of the Federal Government on Wednesday.
The industrial action, which began earlier in the day, had raised fears of a nationwide blackout after workers shut down operations to protest unresolved disputes with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
Following hours of negotiations, union leaders announced the suspension of the strike, citing assurances from the government to address their concerns.
With the decision, power supply, which had already been disrupted in some parts of the country, is expected to gradually stabilize.
The Tinubu-led administration emphasized that it is committed to doing everything possible to avert strikes that could disrupt the economy, assuring workers that their grievances will be addressed through continuous dialogue.
The Federal Government also reiterated its pledge to work closely with electricity workers to ensure industrial harmony and stability in the power sector.
