Afrobeats singer, Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, and actress Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, have sealed their union in a series of weddings held across three countries, with the Yoruba traditional rites taking centre stage.

The wedding journey began with a civil ceremony in Monaco on May 9, 2025. The date was deliberately chosen to coincide with the posthumous birthday of Mr Eazi’s late mother.

In July, attention shifted to Dubai, where the Otedola family hosted a grand traditional wedding steeped in Yoruba culture. The ceremony featured customary rites, traditional attires, Yoruba music and dance, and performances led by Juju music legend King Sunny Ade. The event symbolised the formal handover of the bride in accordance with Yoruba marriage customs.

The celebration concluded in August with a church wedding in Reykjavík, Iceland, which drew global attention. However, Yoruba observers have emphasised that the Dubai ceremony represented the most significant stage of the marriage, as it fulfilled the ancestral and cultural requirements binding the two families.

Prominent Yoruba and Nigerian figures, including business magnates Aliko Dangote and Abdul Samad Rabiu, joined the Otedola family to witness the rites. Temi’s father, Femi Otedola, in his address, praised the union and underscored the importance of preserving cultural values even in global settings.

The three-part wedding has trended widely, but among the Yoruba, the Dubai ceremony is viewed as the true sealing of the marriage, affirming the couple not just in law and religion, but in the customs of their people.
