Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, have been eliminated from the ongoing 2025 FIBA AfroBasket Championship after suffering a 91–75 defeat to Senegal in their quarter-final clash on Wednesday.

The match, played at the Pavilhão Multiusos de Luanda in Angola, saw Senegal dominate for most of the game, capitalizing on Nigeria’s defensive lapses and turnovers to secure a comfortable win and book their place in the semi-finals.

D’Tigers had advanced to the quarter-finals with hopes of reclaiming continental glory but fell short against a more clinical Senegalese side, ending their campaign earlier than expected.

The result means Nigeria will miss out on a chance to compete for the AfroBasket title, extending their wait for another continental triumph.
