FG to Disburse Cash Transfers to 2.2 Million Households Before End of August – Sununu

The Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Tanko Sununu, has assured Nigerians that the Federal Government remains committed to alleviating poverty across the country.

Speaking yesterday, Sununu disclosed that over two million poor households have already been captured in the government’s social safety net and will soon benefit from cash transfers.

“In the next few days to come, before the end of August, we are going to reach out to 2.2 million households,” the minister said.

According to him, the process is being coordinated by the National Social Safety-Net Coordinating Office (NASSCO), which is responsible for identifying and enrolling vulnerable Nigerians using the national social register.

He emphasized that the initiative is part of President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s drive to reduce poverty and cushion the effects of economic hardship on the most vulnerable groups.
