The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has publicly dissociated itself from the controversial incident involving a female passenger, Comfort Emmanson, at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MM2) in Lagos. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, sparked outrage after Emmanson was allegedly subjected to mistreatment by staff of Ibom Air.

In a statement released on Friday, FAAN clarified that its personnel were not involved in the initial stages of the incident, which took place within the terminal operated by Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited. According to the statement, the altercation began when Emmanson and staff members of Ibom Air engaged in a scuffle at the foot of the aircraft.

The situation quickly escalated, with reports of dehumanizing treatment towards the passenger, leading to widespread condemnation from Nigerians on social media and across the country.

Nigerians have expressed anger at the incident, with many condemning the actions of the Ibom Air staff involved in the altercation. Social media platforms were flooded with calls for justice and a thorough investigation, as well as demands for accountability from both the airline and the authorities overseeing airport operations.

Following the incident, there have been calls for a full investigation to determine what led to the altercation and whether the actions of the airline staff violated passenger rights or standards of conduct.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has yet to comment on any actions taken regarding the incident, as it continues to monitor the situation.
