Gateway International Airport Gets Approval for Scheduled Commercial Flights

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has granted the Gateway International Airport an Interim Aerodrome Operational Permit, officially approving it for scheduled commercial flight operations.

This landmark approval marks a major milestone for Ogun State, positioning the Gateway International Airport as a key hub for air travel and economic development in the South-West region.

Conceived in 2019 and built from the ground up by Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration, the airport stands as one of the most ambitious infrastructural projects in the state’s history. Designed to meet international standards, the facility is expected to boost trade, tourism, and investment opportunities while easing air travel access for residents and businesses in Ogun and neighboring states.

The Interim Aerodrome Operational Permit paves the way for airlines to commence regular passenger and cargo flights at the facility, pending the issuance of a full operational license. Aviation stakeholders have lauded the development as a significant step in expanding Nigeria’s aviation sector and enhancing connectivity across the region.
