The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced the immediate suspension of the licences of a ValueJet pilot, Captain Oluranti Ogoyi, and the co-pilot, First Officer Ivan Oloba.
According to the NCAA, the decision was taken following safety concerns and regulatory violations, though the specific details of the infractions were not disclosed at the time of reporting.
The suspension takes effect immediately and bars both flight crew members from operating any aircraft under Nigerian civil aviation regulations.
The regulatory body reiterated its commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and professionalism in the Nigerian aviation industry.
“The NCAA will not compromise on safety and strict compliance with operational procedures. All airlines and crew are expected to adhere fully to regulatory requirements,” an official statement from the Authority read.
ValueJet and the affected crew members are yet to issue any public response to the development.
The NCAA assured the public that investigations are ongoing and pledged to continue monitoring airline operations across the country.
