Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, representing the Osun East Senatorial District in Nigeria’s National Assembly, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The announcement comes via a resignation letter dated June 12, 2025, which was addressed to the Ward Party Chairman of Ward 4 in Obokun local government area of Osun State.

In the letter sighted by The Yoruba Times, Senator Fadahunsi cited insurmountable differences and prolonged legal disputes that have plagued the PDP at the national level following the 2023 general elections as the primary reasons for his departure.

Senator Fadahunsi emphasized that his decision to leave the party was made after thorough discussions with his political allies, family members, and close friends.

The letter detailing his resignation reads: “I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my Membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect, due to the irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles that have bedeviled the party at the National level after the 2023 general elections. “This was concluded after consultation and engagement with my political associates, family and friends.

“It is my wish that you accept my resignation in good faith. “Thank you for your understanding.”

According to a high-ranking PDP member in Ilesa, who spoke on condition of anonymity to DAILY POST on Saturday, Senator Fadahunsi’s exit from the party was a move that had been anticipated for some time.

The party stalwart noted that Senator Fadahunsi had gradually lost interest in remaining a member of the PDP despite efforts to persuade him to stay. The source added that the plan for Senator Fadahunsi to leave the party had been in consideration for a while.
