The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has launched a campaign to identify and prosecute individuals engaging in indiscriminate waste dumping, particularly on the Alapere Link Bridge.

Despite repeated public sensitization efforts and community engagement, the agency has continued to receive reports of illegal dumping in the area.

In a bid to tackle the issue, LAWMA’s field officers, working with a volunteer, captured a video of an offender dumping refuse on the bridge on May 20, 2025.

The agency is now seeking the public’s help to identify the individual, who has reportedly been engaging in this behavior for months.

“We want to give civic-minded members of the public an opportunity to get involved in the war on those intent on destroying Lagos,” LAWMA stated.

Members of the public who recognize the individual in the video or have any information that can lead to their identification and arrest are encouraged to contact @Lawma_gov via DM or email [email protected].

The agency has promised to protect the identity of informants and is offering a small reward for information leading to the successful arrest of the culprit. LAWMA is also open to receiving tips on other suspected offenders.
