The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has warned that Nigeria’s porous borders are allowing jihadist factions expelled from the central Sahel to slip into the country, stoking fresh violence in the north and Middle Belt.
“Terrorist pressure in the Sahara region has spilled into Nigeria due to our porous borders, and the President has issued directives on next steps” says CDS Christopher Musa.
President Bola Tinubu has directed the military to intensify efforts to combat the threat, and the Defence Chief has assured that the armed forces are working extremely hard to address the situation ¹.
In a meeting with President Tinubu and security chiefs, Musa emphasized the need for tighter border security, fresh air assets, and closer coordination with states to neutralize the threats.
He also urged citizens to report suspicious activity and misconduct by security personnel.
