The Ekiti State Government will begin an aerial mapping exercise on Sunday, April 20, 2025, to enhance land administration and support better development planning.

According to the State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, the exercise will provide accurate and reliable geospatial data for effective land management, urban planning, and infrastructure development.

“This exercise will enable the provision of accurate and reliable geospatial data, which is essential for effective land management, urban planning, and infrastructure development,” Olatunbosun said.

The data will empower the government to make informed decisions regarding land use, allocation, and development, leading to improved governance and sustainable development.

The aerial survey, expected to run until December 2025, will benefit landowners, property developers, investors, and community organizations by providing them with greater certainty and confidence in their land transactions and investments.

This, in turn, will reduce risks associated with land tenure insecurity, boundary disputes, and fraudulent transactions, and lead to increased investment in real estate development and infrastructure projects.

Olatunbosun assured residents that necessary safety measures will be put in place during the aerial survey, and urged them not to be alarmed by the low-flying aircraft.

“Residents should not be alarmed by plane flying at low altitude during the mapping exercise,” he added.

The Commissioner solicited the continued support of all stakeholders for the success of the exercise and efforts of the government to develop the state.
