A disturbing comment on social media has raised widespread outrage and condemnation after a user suggested that the Yoruba race should be eradicated for Nigeria to achieve unity.

The comment was made in response to a tweet that highlighted France’s efforts to promote unity by encouraging the use of a single language.

The original tweet noted that France had over 400 languages and tribes in the early 1900s, but the Government took steps to promote the use of French, resulting in only 20% of the population speaking the language at the time.

“Up until early 1900s, France had over 400 languages/tribes and like only 20% of the population could speak french.

“The govt knew the importance of unity so they passed new laws banning all other languages and forced everyone to speak French.” The original tweet reads.

The social media user, who has since deleted their account, responded to the tweet by saying that for Nigeria to achieve similar unity, the Yoruba tribe would need to be “wiped off” first.

The outrage comments, “For this to happen in Nigeria they’ll actually need to wipe off the Yoruba tribe first.”

This comment has been widely condemned as hate speech and a call to violence against a particular ethnic group.

The Yoruba people are one of the largest ethnic groups in Nigeria, with a rich cultural heritage and history.

The comment has raised fear among many Nigerians, who are calling for greater tolerance and understanding between different ethnic groups.

The incident has also raised concerns about the spread of hate speech and divisive rhetoric on social media, and the need for greater accountability and regulation of online platforms.

Yoruba leaders and organizations have condemned the comment, emphasizing the importance of promoting unity and inclusivity in the country.

They have also called for greater efforts to address the underlying issues that lead to such divisive rhetoric, including poverty, inequality, and lack of education.
