45-year-old Stella Nwadiggbo remanded in prison for assaulting 3-year-old student

A 45-year-old primary school teacher, Stella Nwadiggbo, has been remanded in prison for allegedly assaulting a three-year-old student in her class.

The incident was captured on camera, showing Nwadiggbo slapping the child repeatedly.

Allegations have surfaced that the teacher, Stella Nwadiggbo, has a history of assaulting students, with the captured incident on camera being only the latest in a series of alleged abuses.

According to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, Nwadiggbo was arraigned at a Magistrate’s Court in Ogba on Thursday, following her arrest by the Family Support Unit (FSU) of Ikorodu Police Division.

“The accused was arraigned for indecent treatment and assault of a child,” Hundeyin stated.

“Following receipt of the video, the Family Support Unit promptly arrested the suspect on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, and transferred her to the Gender Unit of the Command Headquarters same day after preliminary investigations.”

The victim has been taken to a medical facility for adequate medical attention, while Nwadiggbo has been remanded to Kirikiri Correctional facility until February 18, 2025, when the case comes up for continuation of hearing.

Hundeyin added that the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, commended Nigerians for promptly alerting the police to the situation and assured them of the ever-readiness of the Command to respond quickly and appropriately to situations towards ensuring the safety and security of residents and visitors to Lagos State.
