The Foundation for the Preservation of Yoruba Culture and Heritage has initiated plans for the 2nd Annual Global Yoruba History and Heritage Celebration, scheduled to hold in Osun State, May 2025.

A nine-member planning committee, chaired by Oloye Lekan Alabi, was inaugurated to oversee the event. Committee members include Alh. Musibau Adewale Shittu, Dr. Tola Adenekan, Otunba Eniola Temitope, Olori Ameenat Matemilola, Chief Biodun Lasile, Mrs. Tolani Sheteolu, and Mr. Olamide Lawal, with Miss Eniola Gbolahan serving as Administrative Secretary.

According to Dr. Abdulfattah Durojaiye, Foundation Deputy President, “The committee should be passionate and ensure a successful celebration that surpasses the first edition held in Abeokuta on May 21st, 2024.”

Oloye Lekan Alabi, Committee Chairman, expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to deliver a successful event, leveraging the southwest’s abundant human resources and cultural icons.

The committee has outlined an advocacy plan to engage eminent Yoruba personalities, including Governor Ademola Adeleke, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Chief Yemi Elebuibon, and cultural icons like King Sunday Adegeya and King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal.

Pre-event activities include a 13-week radio program “Yoruba Niwa” and cultural competitions among secondary school students in the six southwest states.
