Oyo former SSG passes away at 86

A prominent political figure in Oyo State and Nigeria, Chief Michael Koleosho, has passed away at the age of 86. He died on September 2, 2024. Koleosho served as Secretary to the State Government under the late Lam Adesina’s administration and was also the National Chairman of the defunct Alliance Democracy (AD).

Born on April 30, 1938, in Saki, Koleosho had a distinguished career in public service and business. He joined the civil service in the Western Region and later ventured into entrepreneurship, establishing Esmak Nigeria Limited, which still exists today.

Koleosho’s political career spanned several decades, including serving as a Councilor, Member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, and Commissioner. He was known for his discipline, self-restraint, and entrepreneurial spirit.

The family has announced his passing with a statement, saying, “With heartfelt gratitude and total submission to the will of God, we announce the passing on to the Glory of Pa Chief Michael Koleosho… May the good Lord repose his soul and grant the entire family and all of us that he left behind the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

“With heartfelt gratitude and total submission to the will of God, we announce the passing on to the Glory of Pa Chief Michael Koleosho (Babalaje of Saki land) who slept in the Lord today 2nd September 2024.

“What a great loss to Saki, Oke-ogun, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.

“May the good Lord repose his soul and grant the entire family and all of us that he left behind the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.” A short memo from the family read.
