The Supreme Court of Nigeria has upheld the election of Ododo as Governor of Kogi State, dismissing the appeal filed by challenger Muritala Ajaka.

The apex court’s decision, delivered on Friday, August 22, 2024, brings closure to the prolonged legal battle over the governorship seat, affirming Ododo’s mandate as the duly elected Governor of Kogi State.

Ajaka’s appeal challenged the earlier verdicts of the Election Petition Tribunal and the Court of Appeal, which had both validated Ododo’s victory.

However, the five-member panel of the apex court, in a unanimous decision, affirmed Ododo’s victory as the panel refused to void the election as requested by Ajaka.
