🇳🇬📚 Ridwan Ajayi emerges new NANS JCC Lagos chairman after 5-5 tiebreaker vote — 10 tertiary institutions participated

Ridwan Ajayi has been declared the new chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students Joint Campus Council (NANS JCC) Lagos State after a dramatic election that ended in a 5-5 tie, broken only by the convention chairman’s casting vote. The election was conducted under a closed ballot system, where delegates vote without revealing whom they voted for, a method that has always been used in the association’s electoral process.

The election was held at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, with delegates from 10 accredited tertiary institutions across Lagos State participating. The institutions included the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Lagos State University (LASU), Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Lagos State University of Science & Technology (LASUSTECH), Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka (FCET Akoka), Saint Augustine College of Education (SACOED), Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology (OCEANOGRAPHY), Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos State College of Nursing (LASCON), and Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHET).

The contest was between Ajayi and Odewumi Quadri, with convention chairman Sanni Sulaimon invoking his constitutional powers to cast the tiebreaking vote in favor of Ajayi. Security operatives, including DSS officials and the Sabo Police Station Divisional Police Officer, were deployed to maintain order during the exercise.
